I've had the system about two months, now, and have no major complaints, although there are a few minor irritants.
I had a bit of trouble getting my old number ported, so I did talk to customer service twice. Each time, I spoke with a native English speaker who was very helpful and resolved my problem fairly quickly.
I moved to ST because the Vonage service that I'd been using since was slowly becoming more and more expensive. For those who complain that the caller ID doesn't show the name of the person calling, only the number, remember that this uses Verizon's cell phone service, so there is no lookup database for incoming calls as there is for landlines and VoIP.
Since this is Straight talk home phone service cell phone system, if you hesitate between numbers when dialing the service may not recognize the number properly. That way the number is sent to the cell system as one continuous stream, with no pauses -- works every time. I recently went on a six hour road trip and was expecting some calls on my ST phone.
I just hooked up a wired phone to the box and put in in the passenger's seat. The box has a battery with a 20 hours standby and 2 hours talk time. I received my calls while driving with no problem, at all. One additional plus that I might mention is Straight talk home phone service because the unit has an antenna it will often work in places where a regular cell phone will not. My brother has a cabin in the mountains and his cell phone is useless there, but his ST's Home Phone system works just fine.
I have been using straight talk for a couple of years. I have never in my life had such difficulty with a service. The last episode occured yesterday when my refill was deducted from bank twice leaving my account overdrawn.
It took me over an hour to speak to anyone that could slightly speak english. Only to bascially be told Therefore I am left penniless due to their mistake. And do they give a crap?

I just want to point that out to anyone that will be looking at the Home Phone service because the calls made to me from the Straight Talk Home Phone are clear and the owner of the unit recommends I get the Home Phone too. That is what brings me to this site. I was researching this product and was disappointed to see so many give it a bad review because are having issues with a different product from this company. Straight Talk is a Tracfone company and has very poor customer service like Tracfone.
Straight talk home phone service try to avoid calling and do my own service via the Tracfone website so I Straight talk home phone service I would do the same with Straight Talk.
Yes, the card they gave me directly from the Straight Talk company gave me an error that it was already used and not valid as a form of credit or payment. I was in the middle of the transaction of porting my number, and I know from experience working in the Cell Phone industry that you never ever cancel a port half way through or you could risk having the number get lost in between two companies. So the only other option was to enter a credit card to complete the transaction. I am told to wait another billing cycle to see it the Service PIN shows on my account.
Basically they don't know what to do so they are giving me the "call back later" put off. She tried to give me the save run around at first and told me I must have used the card during activation, but when I insisted I give her my transaction number proving I had activated the device with a credit card she then quickly applied this "service pin" card to my account.
It took about six calls to customer service over the period of a month but the issue was resolved. The Home Phone Service is excellent. I like it very much. My device and one month card arrived quickly. My experience with StraightTalk Home Phone has been excellent. I used the phone number they assigned for a month; my signal strength varied between one and two lights on the device; everything worked as advertised.
I let my month expire and purchased a one month card online; went to the ST website and asked to restart with my ported CenturyLink landline phone number. It took nine days to port; but my CenturyLink account was closed; my ST Home Phone has been working great for over a week. A couple of days after porting I went online and setup Refill. Straight talk home phone service had ST home phone for about two months, and their cell service for about 6.
Haven't Straight talk home phone service any issues with either. Had a small problem activating but it was the R Sim 9 Pro causing the problem.
They were very patient with me as I with them. I would rate the experience highly positive. If you are not willing to invest a couple of hours in setup then go to ATT or Verizon. When paying less than what the big boys charge I expect to expend more effort up front.
Have not experienced a throttling problem but I pretty new to the service and will nit exceed the 2. This is my first smart phone and very much a novice.
If I can do it most technologically challenged 60 plus year olds can do it. One person found this helpful. I tried Straighttalk and it was awful CS. Very nice staff, very helpful and patient. I love this home phone. It was easy to register online and activate. Kept my old phone number only took 3 days to transfer and work with my own phones.
The only thing I would caution people on is this works off the Verizon signal - if you don't have good reception for a cell phone in your house, this probably won't work either. Get a can and string or use drums.
I had this for two months after renewing the service the third time the phone didn't have a dial tone. I contacted what they call their customer service.
I did everything they required and after their ideas did not solve the problem they just hang the phone- up; that happen two times and two different ,suppose to be techs. Now the cost for the unit, the months plan is non refundable. Stay connected to whom you are with or get a can and string.
I purchased multiple Straight talk services through Straight talk home phone service and have used both for a while.
When trying to add an Iphone 4 the company ran into issues. My problem wasn't that they were unable to add it, my problem was that after 3 weeks, 15 phone calls and 18 hrs.
